The tablet press is a machine that can press dry granules or powdered materials into tablets through a mold and can automatically and continuously produce. It is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry.

It has the advantages of high output, high pressure, continuously adjustable pre-pressure, compact structure, simple operation and maintenance, reliable operation, wide application range of materials, and low operating cost. It has a high cost performance.

Some people found that the texture of the tablet was loose after pressing the tablet with a tablet press, and it shattered with a light break. Many people have been looking for problems on the machine itself, while ignoring other reasons. In order to clarify this phenomenon, let everyone clarify three questions:

1. How much does the pressure of the tablet press affect the hardness of the tablet? Does the greater the pressure, the greater the hardness?
  The relationship between the pressure of the tablet press and the hardness is proportional to a range of pressure changes, that is to say, the greater the pressure, the harder the tablet will be.

2. Some manufacturers say that they let me use the machine with preload, but after the test, I feel that the improvement is not much. Is the machine with preload also irrelevant to the improvement of the hardness?
   The answer is yes. The effect of pre-compression equipment is indeed better, which is equivalent to secondary compression, and it can also prevent splinters. Now all large-scale equipment produced has pre-compression.

3. What is the bonding effect of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose? A tablet press manufacturer asked me to add this to improve the adhesion, but I felt that the hardness did not change much after adding 3%.
   Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose should work well as a binder, but the addition of mixed and compressed tablets may not have much effect.

In addition, different molds and tablet presses have their own pressure limitations. We must first figure out what the lowest mold pressure is. When most molds are pressed, the control pressure is below 40KN, and it is more special to 50KN (rarely, Effervescent tablets), and the larger the equipment, the faster the speed (you must consider this if you want to transform production). Under the same pressure, the quality of the tablets pressed by the testing machine is definitely better than that of the production machine, so if the testing machine needs to use a lot of pressure to press the tablets, then there may be problems in the production (not forming a shape).
